Andria’s Statement on why Waldorf, Montessori Schools, etc. are not what the Star Children want: While Waldorf and Montessori schools are very good, and often much better than public schools for Star Children, they are still rigid programs with a set in stone curriculum allowing for little time outdoors, little time spent in free-play and little time spent in the purely creational space of a child’s mind. In other words, the children are still told what to do from the time they arrive at school to the time they leave. While the space can allow for more gentleness, peace and freedom, overall, children with a high need for creative expression and freedom will not thrive as much in a Waldorf or Montessori school as much as they will in a program that follows more of an "Un-Schooling" format. There is still a philosophy that the adults know more and better and that the children must observe, listen and follow direction. This is not the way of the Angel Peace Center and School where our children will be in charge of their own education, mastering their reality and environment and taking responsibility for learning, decision-making and creative expression. We are a school without walls and limits. Waldorf and Montessori still place too many restrictions on children. Children who are masterful souls need more freedom and respect. We are committed to meeting that need.
